Port McNeill is located on the northeast end of Vancouver Island and is situated on the Broughton Strait. The remote Finnish Settlement of Sointula lies directly across the Strait on Malcolm Island, and the village of Alert Bay, home of the Namgis First Nations, is on nearby Cormorant Island.
