"A Walk Through The Forest"

The Western red cedar played an important role in the aboriginal life and culture on Canada’s west coast. The cedar tree provided clothing, shelter, and transportation, and also supplied material for a collection of aboriginal art and craft work. The tree reaches maturity at approximately 350 years but documentation has recorded specimens up to 1000 years old.

Along with the privilege of living in a forest community there comes many opportunities to walk the nearby trails. This scene depicts cedar trees with their gigantic root systems. You can almost smell the earthy, damp aroma as you feel yourself drawn into this forest scene.
